Vietnam Club of Ambassadors includes Ambassador of India to Thailand
In a unique gathering of sort, on the occasion of the formation of the Vietnam Club of Ambassadors, the guests were treated to a superb dinner hosted by the Ambassador of Vietnam to Thailand HE Mr. Nguyen Tat Thanh and his wife. Vietnam Club of Ambassadors includes all the ambassadors presently resident in Bangkok but who have served previously in Vietnam.
Guests were the Ambassadors of Denmark, Germany, UK and India with their spouses. The Indian Ambassador to Thailand, Mr. Shringla too has previously served as Consul General in Bangkok, besides Ho Chi Minh City and Durban. Mr. Shringla has also held a variety of positions in New Delhi and in Indian Missions in Paris, Hanoi and Tel Aviv. He has also served as Minister/Counsellor in the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, New York. Prior to taking up his post in Thailand, Mr. Shringla served in the Ministry of External Affairs as Joint Secretary (Director General) responsible for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Maldives. Mr. Shringla has also headed the United Nations Political and SAARC Divisions in the Ministry. Earlier, he served as Director of the Northern (Nepal and Bhutan) Division and Deputy Secretary of the Europe West Division. Mr. Shringla assumed his present position as Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP on 19 January 2014.
The new initiative by the Ambassador of Vietnam is being seen as a PR exercise to keep the contacts alive.
